A nationally certified sign language interpreter, Julie has specialized in theater for the past sixteen years. This is her eleventh season as Access Coordinator at Portland Center Stage.
Her work at PCS includes: The Gimmick, A New Brain, Hamlet, A Tuna Christmas, Bacchae Revisited, The Search for Intelligent Life in the Universe, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Road to MeccaMeasure for Measure, The Comedy of Errors, Spunk, The Ladies of the Camellias, Season's Greetings, and A Christmas Carol.

Julie has also performed speaking and singing roles with Northwest Theatre of the Deaf, Interstate Firehouse Cultural Center, and Tygres Heart Shakespeare Company. During her five years as Access Coordinator/Lead Interpreter at Tygres Heart, Julie developed an innovative and highly acclaimed shadow interpreting program. She works with loca national organizations to provide imporoved access to the arts and is the author of Sign the Speech: An Introduction to Theatrical Interpreting.
